MONTEREY BAY, CA – The SBCC men's basketball team closed out the Monterey Bay Classic strong with a 69-61 win over Hartnell, as four of the five starters scored in double-figures.
Guard Trevor Lee scored a season-high 20 points to lead the Vaqueros (2-8) with 20 points on a very efficient 9-of-13 shooting day. Forward Aidan Mandel registered his third double-double of the year with 12 points and a season-high 16 rebounds.
Guards Jaelen Bates and Wilfrid Nado also reached double-figures. Bates put up 12 points on 5-of-8 from the field and dished out a season-best six assists to lead all players. Nado added 10 points and tied Mandel for a team-leading three steals.
Off the bench, guard Elijah Simpson went for 10 points on a 4-of-6 shooting day. The Vaqueros shot just under 50 percent from the field, hitting 46.4 percent overall and 38.5 percent (5-13 3FG) from outside.
